BOOKS
I was inspired by a teammate to make a section for books I've read in the last few years. It feels a little boastful, which is definitely not my intent, but in a way it's another hobby, and shares a bit more about me.
I've not been much of an avid reader (hard for me to sit still long enough to actually read), but a handful of years ago I found audiobooks, and they fit much better into my day-to-day as I can listen to them when doing the dishes or driving.
I can see them getting scoffed at, but I feel like I get maybe 90% of the experience of actually reading a book, with the only difference being how good (or bad) the voice actor is.

Still in progress; I keep picking this one up, then moving onto a more exciting (fiction) book, and coming back in the gaps.
The book itself is full of good little management nuggets from someone (Ben Horowitz) who has run many startups through good and bad times (market crashes, tough competition, etc.).
As with most (all?) non-fiction, 'self-help' books where the author is also the main subject, it's important to take the insight with a grain of salt; your experience and situations likely are not the same as the author's.
That being said, though a bit masturbatory at first, I found the book to pivot to a much more empathetic, and understanding view of what it can take to motivate and manage people.
